A Napa-Sonoma Itinerary to Celebrate Your Anniversary: Wine and Dine Guide
There are so many fun things to do in Napa-Sonoma AKA Wine Country and it can be super hard to decide where to go! I'll create a list of my favorite wineries and restaurants soon; but in this post, I'll go through an itinerary my husband created to surprise me for our anniversary celebration. Even with limited options due to COVID, he did such an amazing job planning and I loved everything!
Here's the immediate itinerary with links and if you keep scrolling, you'll see photos of our experience:
Brunch at Celadon in Napa
Walk around Napa River
Grab coffee and a cookie at brewed.
Wine taste and tour at The Donum Estate for large-scale art installations by global artists
Lunch at Brix Restaurant & Gardens
Check-in at Andaz Napa for an overnight stay
Dinner at Ristorante Allegria
Relax by the fire pit at Andaz Napa's outdoor terrace
Brunch the next morning at The Bistro at Auburge Du Soleil
The first stop: Celadon.
Before entering the restaurant, we walked through this beautiful walkway full of greenery so of course we took a photo. :)
When we checked into our reservation, they checked our temperature with a forehead thermometer and reminded us to keep our masks on except when we are eating. We were super distant from anyone else and the restaurant was pretty empty. We loved our steak hash but probably could've done without the pancakes!
Second stop: brewed.
After walking along the Napa River, we wanted a little pick-me-up and went to Brewed by the Napa outlets. They have the most delicious, huge cookies that feeds two! If you're a cookie fan like me, you'll love their cookies.
Third stop: The Donum Estate
Matt then drove me to this winery that looked like it was in the middle of nowhere at first. If you're going, make sure to wear comfortable clothes as the tour is about 1.5 miles and it can be windy even on a summer day! As we took the tour, it was cute to see and try the herbs they grew but later, I was so shocked to see how many large-scale art installations they had! I'm a sucker for art, especially creative installations like a palm tree made completely out of tires! These were some of my favorites (with links for you to read more about them).
Fourth stop: Brix Restaurant & Gardens
We had a delicious lunch with a great view of the hills. You could also enjoy sitting or strolling in the garden after your meal. I recommend their salmon dish, so good! Matt had the Brix burger.
Fifth Stop: Andaz Napa
We were finally able to rest up in the hotel room where we enjoyed relaxing in the huge bathtub in the room! We changed for dinner and enjoyed the outdoor terrace. With COVID, they had no bar open in the terrace but we were able to bring up our own champagne to enjoy by the firepit. No one else was around us so we were able to enjoy it by ourselves.
Last stop for the night: Ristorante Allegria
I love Italian food so Matt made a reservation here! It's pretty busy so we made sure to keep our masks on. They were so sweet and provided us free Prosecco to celebrate our anniversary. They had DELICIOUS food and amazing service!
Next Morning Brunch: The Bistro at Auburge Du Soleil
After we checked out of the Andaz, we headed to Auburge Du Soleil, which is a resort, but their Bistro was open for outdoor dining. We weren't wild about their menu, but the view was worth it. Their service is so great too - they provided us free chocolates to celebrate our anniversary!
We actually had reservations at Stone Brewing to enjoy beer and dinner at Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch, but we weren't feeling so hot. We were hungover from the night before if I'm being honest hahaha and we had just ended our Whole30 diet so our tummies were strugglin'.
We had such a dope time celebrating our anniversary and all the restaurants Matt booked for us were incredible. It felt so nice to be out safely and it was great to see restaurants being so careful with safety and cleanliness. Hope this guide helps you with your trip or celebration to Napa! It's not easy to know what's open in the midst of the pandemic. What other places in Napa do you recommend?
With love & confetti,
Ame
